As we age, we begin to think about what makes us tick and our legacy. For some, this leads to a new car or an exotic trip. But not everyone. Vanessa Fabbre, PhD, of the Brown School, considers the notion of queer time, based on the experiences of older transgender people who consider gender transitions. Her paper appears in the Journal of Gerontological Social Work.

School of Medicine employees ignored the unexpected chill in the air Friday, Sept. 12, and came out in droves for the annual employee appreciation picnic on the Medical Campus. The picnic was sponsored by the dean's office and the Medical School Management Council.

Elisabeth Askin and Nathan Moore became frustrated during medical school at the complexity of the U.S. health-care system and attempts to explain it. So the medical residents wrote The Health Care Handbook to help future doctors.

A Higher Learning Commission peer review team will be here Sept. 22-24. The team will conduct an on-site evaluation and meet with faculty, staff and students.
The Gephardt Institute invites students, faculty and staff to apply for Project DIVE, a new program designed to catalyze action. The theme for the fall cohort is “Why Ferguson Matters.” Thursday, Sept. 18, is the deadline.
